Detailed Breakdown of Targeted Categories
Draw #282 issued invitations in three major selection streams that offered high value to the retention of the candidates within the province.
1. Completed Post-Secondary Education in Manitoba (734 LAAs)
The largest number of invitations issued accounted for over 56% of the total in this round and were for candidates where either the principal applicant or their accompanying spouse had completed their post-secondary education in the province. In this stream of invitation, candidates needed a minimum score of 816 points. The cut-off score decreased by 9 points from the 825 cut-off score required in the previous draw held on September 10.
2. Overall Top Scoring Skilled Workers (513 LAAs)
For the first time for this category, the MPNP evaluated all eligible active applications for skilled workers in the province and issued invitations to 513 of the top scoring applicants. Minimum score needed was 846 points.
3. Strategic Recruitment Activities (57 LAAs)
Among the Skilled Workers Stream (comprising both in-Manitoba and foreign applications), 57 LAAs have been issued to those directly nominated under a permitted activity or the Temporary Public Policy (TPP) -
- Employer Services - 21 LAAs
- Francophone Community - 16 LAAs
- Regional Communities - 15 LAAs
- Temporary Public Policy (TPP) - 3 LAAs
- Ethnocultural Communities - 2 LAAs
Participation in Express Entry Program (353 LAAs)
Of the 1,304 LAAs issued during Draw #282, exactly 353 LAAs have been granted to Express Entry applicants with an active profile number and job seeker validation code. The issuance of the formal nomination certificate under the MPNP program entitles these individuals to additional 600 points on the CRS score, resulting in an automatic ITA for Canadian permanent residency in the next federal Express Entry draw.
Essential Compliance and Advisory Information from MPNP
In addition to the Draw #282 outcome, the MPNP stressed the following important document verification guidelines -
- Post-Secondary Education Evidence - Those selected for the local study stream have to provide transcripts and diplomas that verify post-secondary education completion in Manitoba. It is recommended that those who fail to do so withdraw from their LAA since their unsubstantiated claim will result in their application being rejected.
- Strategic Recruitment Invitation Codes - Candidates whose profiles were selected through community-driven programs must have the real invitation code provided by the MPNP. Failing to provide the real code will result in rejecting the application.
- Language Score Verification - The third party language test (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF) scores provided by the applicant in his/her Expression of Interest should be valid and correspond to those shown on the application form.
